When Raven first laid eyes on “Lil Wayne,” a gangly, Texas-bred yearling, he knew instantly he wanted to train him. Lil Wayne is a calm-and-collected colt, with the same pattern of white on his muzzle as his illustrious dam, APHA multiple world and reserve champion PLATINUM COWGIRL. He’s also gray like her, and Raven has always been partial to gray horses.
 
Raven quickly discovered the handsome gray’s passion for eating; by his second birthday, Lil Wayne was nearly 16 hands. At the outset of training, Raven appreciated Lil Wayne’s laid-back personality. He is smart and sensible, calm and cool.
 
Raven has been riding horses since he was five; was taught the slow, natural horsemanship method of training; and has successfully used that method to train dozens of ranch horses and thoroughbred racehorses. He feels blessed to have had the opportunity to train Lil Wayne, thus giving him a head start at a productive, purposeful, joyful life.
 
Raven’s journey is now taking him to Kentucky to further his college education and to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming a world-class racehorse trainer. He will always love this mild-mannered, gray colt, but knows it’s now time for the right person to pick up the reins and help Lil Wayne fulfill his enormous potential and the path in life that is clearly meant for him.
 
Lil Wayne’s sire is 2019 AQHA world champion HAY GOODLOOKN (offspring earnings 67K).
 
He trailers well and has excellent ground manners, stands for farrier, vet and baths.
 
He is in a formal training program with our trainer-in-residence, David Sowers, but is now available for pickup and ready to finish as a Western pleasure or English hunter or equitation show horse, or just as a horse to show off.
